DogWalkJobs.com publishes guides written by people who have direct, professional experience in the topics they cover. This page explains how we research, write, review, and update our content, and how we handle affiliate relationships.
Who writes our content
Every article on this site is written or reviewed by a member of our editorial team with relevant credentials or hands-on experience. Our contributors include:
- Hannah Parker — Professional dog walker with 8+ years of experience on Rover, Wag, and as an independent walker. Covers platform reviews, pay rates, career guides, and pet sitting.
- Michael Carter — Pet business consultant and former dog walking business owner. Covers taxes, insurance, LLC formation, marketing, and business operations.
- Dr. Emily Lawson, DVM — Licensed veterinarian. Reviews pet safety, first aid, and certification content.
- Jessica Brooks, CPDT-KA — Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Covers dog handling techniques, equipment, and training-related certifications.
We do not publish AI-generated content without expert review. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage or rankings.
How we research and write guides
Our process for each guide:
- Primary experience first. Where possible, our writers draw on direct personal experience — actually using Rover, Wag, or the service being reviewed, or running a dog walking business themselves.
- Data verification. Pay rates, fee structures, and statistics are verified against official platform documentation, published app store policies, or government data (e.g. Bureau of Labor Statistics). We cite sources where relevant.
- Factual accuracy check. Before publication, key claims are verified against current platform terms, pricing pages, and public records. Outdated information is flagged and corrected.
- Expert review. Articles that touch on legal, financial, veterinary, or training topics are reviewed by the relevant credentialed contributor before going live.
How we update content
Platform fees, pay rates, and requirements change frequently. We review and update our guides when:
- A platform changes its fee structure, pay model, or application process
- New data becomes available (e.g. updated wage reports)
- A reader or contributor flags outdated information
- A major change occurs in the pet care industry
Each article displays a "Last Updated" date so you can see how current the information is. We do not change dates without making substantive updates to the content.
Affiliate relationships and commercial independence
DogWalkJobs.com earns revenue through affiliate partnerships. This means we may earn a commission when a reader clicks a link and completes an action (such as signing up for a service). All affiliate links are disclosed with rel="nofollow sponsored" attributes. We also maintain a dedicated Affiliate Disclosure page.
Our editorial coverage is not influenced by affiliate relationships. Specifically:
- We do not give positive reviews in exchange for affiliate commissions
- We do not rank platforms higher because they pay more
- We cover platforms and services that don't have affiliate programs if they're genuinely useful to dog walkers
- We publish critical assessments even of platforms we earn commissions from
Corrections policy
If you spot an error in any of our content — factual, numerical, or otherwise — please email us at info@dogwalkjobs.com. We review and correct errors within 48 hours when possible. Significant corrections are noted in the article.
